On November 7th police made a traffic stop on Route 9W near the Greene County line. During the stop, the officer observed the female passenger in the vehicle attempting to place something inside her clothing in an attempt to hide it.  When she was interviewed she admitted that she was attempting to hide a small bag containing marihuana. The male driver later admitted that it was his marihuana. Both subjects were taken into custody and charged with Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. The male was also found to be driving with a suspended license. He was also cited for that violation.  Officer Johnson

 

Police were called to Park Avenue in the Village of Ravena on November 8th where two juveniles were observed attempting to set a park bench on fire. Upon investigation police also determined that the two also had set campaign signs on fire on SR 9W. The two 13 year olds along with a 10 year old sibling were taken into custody. The 13 year olds were charged with Arson in the 5th degree and criminal mischief. They were issued Family Court appearance tickets and released to the custody of their parents. On the 9th police received a 911 call for a man damaging a vehicle on Main Street in Coeymans. The incident was a result of a domestic dispute between 18 year old Thomas J. Mason Jr. and his mother. Mason had damaged a vehicle which his mother had been using.  He was taken into custody and charged with Felony Criminal Mischief, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of marihuana and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned before Coeymans Town Justice George Dardani and remanded to Albany County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. Officers Albert and Johnson and Chief Darlington

 

On November 13th at approximately 0900 police were called to State Route 143 near Gedney Hill Road for a roll over auto accident. When police arrived on the scene they were advised that the driver of the vehicle had taken off on foot. Officers soon located 23 year old Gerard Carter Jr. walking on route 143. He was identified by witnesses on the scene as the driver of the vehicle. He was eventually taken into custody for DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage accident. He refused to submit to a chemical test of his breath or blood. He was charged with numerous vehicle and traffic law violations and brought before Ravena Village Judge Harold Warner as no Coeymans Judge was available. He was remanded to Albany County Jail without bail. Officers Myers and Thompson.

 

 

 

Albany Man Arrested on Cocaine Sale Charges

 

An Albany man was arrested by the Coeymans Police on Monday, November 14, 2011, after a two month long investigation into narcotics sales in the town.

 

Geroge Perment III, 49, of 38 Stephen Street, Albany, NY was taken into custody   during a vehicle and traffic stop on RT. 9W in Ravena.

 

Perment was charged with two counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, both B Felony Charges.  He was arraigned in front of Ravena Court Justice H. Warner and was remanded to Albany County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 Cash Bail.

 

If Mr. Perment does not make bail, he is due back in Village Court on November 18, 2011, 9:00 am.
